Author Biography

Hi, I’m Bridget Bowers and I live in Northern California. I’ve lived here my whole life and love the small town lifestyle. I also love to read. My mom encouraged reading in our family at a very young age, and it didn’t matter what it was we read as long as we were reading. I started out reading anything that had a horse in it as I was horse crazy from before the time I could walk.

From horses I moved onto anything and everything I can get my hands on. I still enjoy reading a wide range of genres. My first adventure in fantasy was The Mysterious Island by Jules Verne. I loved it. I combed the school libraries for more Jules Verne. Then I moved onto the Dune series by Frank Herbert and then tons of books by Piers Anthony, and I was hooked.

Then I discovered Stephen King and read The Stand until the cover fell off and lucky for me King released the complete and uncut version so I could read it all over again. My newest adventure in reading is paranormal romance, and I’ve recently become hooked on vampires. Most importantly, I love anything with a good story. A new favorite of mine is the Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning. It is a must read for anyone interested in checking out the paranormal genre.

I actually became a writer thanks to reading James Herriot, although at first I wanted to be a writing veterinarian. In college, I realized veterinary school wasn’t going to be for me. After talking things over with my mom, I realized I loved to write and just because it was something I loved, it didn’t mean it wasn’t something I couldn’t do for a living.

So, I changed my major to journalism and became a sports writer. I’ve always loved sports as much as I loved to write. I was a sports stringer for my local newspaper and was lucky enough to cover my brother’s teams. In college, I became the sports editor at The Orion at the University of California, Chico.

After college, I was the first scorekeeper for the minor league team the Chico Heat. During that job, I learned of a sports writing position that was open at my local newspaper and was back to covering high school and community sports.

Unfortunately, as the downfall continued for small town newspapers, I was forced to change jobs and had to leave covering local sports behind. I’m still a huge sports fan. I love San Francisco Giants baseball, the Duke Blue Devils in college basketball and the San Francisco 49ers in football.

Now, I write fantasy novels and have just released my first epic fantasy adventure series The Chronicles of Vlandamyuir. The first book, The Path of Light, was self-published as an eBook in October 2011.
